عمده ترين چشمه هاي نوترون، راکتور هاي هسته اي هستند که داراي طيف گسترده اي از تابش هاي نوترون و گاما مي باشند. مهمترين نقطه ضعف اين چشمه براي BNCT ( غير از ملاحظات اقتصادي) دور بودن از بيمارستان و عدم پذيرش افکار عمومي مبني بر ايمن بودن آن است. راکتورهاي بسياري در سطح جهان به عنوان چشمه براي BNCT در حال فعاليت هستند. جدول زيرفهرستي از اين راکتورها را نشان مي دهد.
